If
you love the magnificent bold trumpet like flowers of Hippeastrums,
then now is the perfect time to plant their bulbs.
Hippeastrums are striking plants with strap like leaves and
massive bold trumpet shaped flowers. Their flowering time
is in summer, but now is the perfect time to plant them into
the pots or your favourite sunny spot in the garden so they
can develop their fabulous blooms.
PLANTING
Hippeastrums like a good sunny position, but will handle a
little shade. They love a good rich well drained soil, so
plant them into Searles® Fower Garden Mix. For a brilliant
effect, mass plant hippeastrums along garden edges or in group
plantings. Once planted, Hippeastrums need very little care.
WATERING
Give them a good watering about once to twice a week.
FERTILISING
To promote their magnificent bold flowers, they need regular
fertilising. Use a good flower promoting fertiliser that is
high in potash, such as Searles Flourish® Souble Plant Food.
Feed them every couple of weeks and you will be rewarded with
their brilliant massive blooms in summer. |

So
remember, for magnificent Hippeastrums
- Choose a sunny spot
- Plant into Searles® Flower Garden Mix
- Fertilise fortnightly with Searles Flourish® Soluble Plant
Food. |
If
you do this now, your garden will be dazzled with magnificent
hippeastrum flowers in summer.
Happy Gardening with Searles from the Searle family.
